    have you tried to just get rid of the depth peeling ?<br>
    (Settings -> Render view tab -> Advanced mode -> Uncheck
    the depth peeling box) and set an opacity < 1.0 on the object.<br>

          me on my current machine) with the offscreen rendering options
          to paraview.</p>

        <p>VNC server seems to be a proprietary software. Are there free
          options available?</p>

                    you can compile paraview for offscreen rendering

                                batch can not connect the xwindows. 
                                <div>If the cluster is configured to run
                                  X for you, ensure that the job has the
                                  correct DISPLAY environment variable. </div>
