being more specific. I am using an intel mac (10.4.8), using a bash

already). I went ahead an then set the variable to the local

have tried running paraview (2.6) from the precompiled binary. I get the
same message. I have also tried running paraview (2.6) on a powerpc
(using the powerpc precompiled binary). Again, same error

or not. Sometimes I do that to make it easier to read. So let's
try the simple thing first: Have you set your DISPLAY environment
variable? Making the assumption that you are new to Linux, try the
following two commands. The first prints out the value of the DISPLAY
environment variable. The second sets the DISPLAY environment variable
to the local display. <BR><BR> <SPAN

up on my previous email, i have also tried to build paraview directly
from the source code (following the wiki's instructions and making the
necessary adjustments to ccmake options such as adding
WI,-search_paths_first to the listed linkers)<BR><BR>the make of the
program appears to work fine<BR><BR>afterwards, i try to run
./paraview (from the /bin directory) and i get the same error messages
as when i was trying to run the pre-compiled

all, <BR><BR>hi. im trying to run ParaView 2.6 on an intel mac
pro running 10.4. im VERY new to a unix environment, so please
bear with me. <BR><BR>after downloading the paraview 2.6 intel
precompiled binaries, i attempt to launch paraview from the console
(using ./paraview in the /bin directory). <BR><BR>i immediately get

$DISPLAY environment variable <BR><BR>i have tried running paraview
on a powerpc g4 and i got the exact same error message, so im pretty
