It sounds like you want to use Paraview in situ, no?

Something like this:

Subject: [Paraview] Paraview network interface

Hi,

I wonder if one can interface with Paraview via sockets/Pipes etc?
I have an application that is used to analyze dynamic simulation results, thus I have many hundred time varying data sets and an application select and view the data sets in a simple way.
Now I want to use Paraview to visualize and analyze a subset of all the data in more detail. Preferably by sending/updating data through an network interface.

Is this possible?
If yes, how?

Regards
Alexander
