[Paraview] Point source

If I create the source and set the number of points and radius,
nothing seems to happen.  If I then make the source invisible and then
visible again, the points get displayed. Also, is this supposed to be
a random distribution of points centered on the point that is selected
by pressing 'p'? If not, I don't understand how to specify the
locations of each point in the cloud.

Can someone please clarify?
