Sad but apparently true. Maybe you want to add a feature request. It should=
 really not be that hard as XML is hirarchical.

We solved the issue by implementing a reader plugin for our format (which i=
s written in a own HDF5 dialect).

This has limitations, therefore I'm still interested in exporting parview d=
ata.

I believe that an extension of the VTK and Paraview (pvd) file format can o=
nly come from kiteware to make it a standard.
