[Paraview] Paraview performance

I have tried to open the results with 4.5 million cells and it is taking
hours. So far, the computer has been trying to open the data file for 2
hours. Is there a way of doing this on a single computer? I assumed that
paraview was indicated for large dataset, is this possible only on a
parallel configuration?
