[Paraview] Surface vector - Linear Integral Convolution

Hello list,

this topic has appeared before on the mailing list and I was able to
help someone who asked how to visualize surface vectors confined on a
surface (e.g. skin friction). Back then I suggested to constrain the
vector field to be parallel to the surface and then visualize the field
using glyphs or streamlines. That's what I've been doing so far (with
pretty bad results), but recently I came across:

LIC (Line Integral Convolution) is a well-known texture-based method
which, presented by Cabral and Leedom of Lawrence Livermore National
Laboratory.

So I am wondering if anybody on this list (from LLNL?) knows if LIC has
been implemented into Paraview or VTK.

Is there maybe an other method for visualizing in a smart way surface
vectors?

Thanks, Simone
