By the way, I thought I'd mention that for people compiling, I couldn't get the HDF5 to work under the default settings (i. e., USE_SYSTEM_HDF5 being unchecked in cmake-gui). It appears that it doesn't download and/or compile or link the HDF5 library successfully. So I had to check that one in the cmake-gui (and cmake found one to link to in my anaconda directory). Other than that (and installing several dependencies as they came up during the compilation process - mostly qt5 ones), it compiled using the default settings just fine on Ubuntu 14.04 with gcc 4.8.4

On Thu, Apr 28, 2016 at 10:53 PM, Geoffrey Hutchison <geoff.hutchison@gmail.com> wrote:

We would love to have more students work with us.
Google has made the announcements about 2016 projects for Summer of Code (https://summerofcode.withgoogle.com/projects/). I want to give thanks to *all* the students who gave proposals, whether you were selected or not. This has been the first year we've participated directly in GSoC and we were exceedingly pleased with the quality of students and the quality of proposals submitted. Congrats.

Honestly, we had to make many hard decisions based on the limited number of "slots" awarded by Google. (We would gladly have taken another few students!)

If you were not selected, we would still love to work with as many as you as possible. We welcome new contributors and new ideas - that's the foundation of open source and open science.

Thanks and best regards,
