 Hello Mentors,

I am interested in the following project ides, as found on the
OpenChemistry GSoC 2018 Ideas wiki page:

*Project: MSDK / MZmine - Statistical Analysis*
*Brief explanation*: Develop new modules for multivariate statistics and
machine learning-based analysis of mass spectrometry results. Part of this
project is algorithmic, part of it is GUI development.
*Prerequisites*: Java, preferably basic knowledge about statistics
*Mentor*: Xiuxia Du <Xiuxia.Du at uncc.edu>

I am presently a part time Research Assistant, working on Machine Learning
methodologies for Java malware detection and a Computer Science Graduate
student at University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Charlotte, NC, USA. I
will be dedicating my summer to this full time. I have a good experience in
JAVA including a year of full time employment.

As per my understanding, this project requires many visualizations to be
created using JAVA as a part of its GUI for various Machine learning based
implementations (implemented in python). My JAVA experience and current
position as Graduate RA working on ML methodologies gives me a good
exposure to the work that is required for this project.

I have met Dr. Xiuxia Du and Dr. Aleksandr in person to understand the
expectations of the project in detail and would be submitting my first
draft by end of the day today (Thursday, EST).

Requesting you to kindly add me to the Slack channel. Thank you.

Warm regards,

Archit Khullar
