Dr. Koes‌ and Team,

My name is Sricharan. I am planning to apply for GSOC 2018 as a CS
Masters student from Technische Universität München (participating country:
Germany).

I have been exploring the potential organizations to apply and I am
surprised to see a 3D visualization requirement for 3Dmol.js.

For a hackathon, I have built a similar system that parses through
ChemSpider, downloads the MOL, converts that to .DAE (Collada) and renders
the 3D molecules on AR (and won the hackathon. We built it in 30 hours :)
). The client was an iPhone app that extracts chemical names from a large
text in real-time and renders the molecules/proteins in an AR environment.
Please refer to the video https://youtu.be/W6PZENy11IY and code
https://github.com/raincrash/ChemStreet for a more detailed explanation.

It would be a great opportunity for me to work on 3Dmol.js and implement a
synchronized 3D molecule rendering experience. I am available over this
e-mail and IRC (raincrash on freenode) to discuss the implementation
details and a prospective proposal. please do not hesitate to reply back.

Best,
Sricharan.
