Thanks for your answer. My computer is on a network and it seems that I
was compiling my programs at a place where there wasn't enough memory.

<br>- apart from the fact that it can take several hundred meg to compile.<br><br>Make sure you have plenty of free space and try again. Running out of space<br>on your root filesystem is generally a pretty undesireable situation.
