  You were right again. At some point on eof my projects was still linking to an 
import library. All is well now :-)

It's a lot harder to do that especially when updating ITK or other
kitware libraries. Since you have to manage compiler settings,
includes and libraries yourself and with itk ... there are dozens of
paths. Are you sure that you updated the location of the all of the
libraries after moving from itk-3.16 to itk 3.20?
