If you want to do a projection, you should have a look at http:// 
insight-journal.org/InsightJournalManager/view_reviews.php? 
back=publications.php%3Fjournalid%3D4%26order%3D%26revision_display% 
3D&pubid=71
This contribution extend the AccumulateImageFilter capabilities to be  
able to perform some other projection than maximum and average  
intensity projection
