         do you in beginning using itk?
         there is no necessary to copy the .h file into your new folder.have you tryed compile the examples program in itk's example folder ,if you start using itk ,you should better first learning datarepresentation,such
as "creatin an image","rgb image","accessing pixel data"and "reading and writing images",these functions are easy to use for a beginner.
