[Insight-users] Problem building 2.4.1 on RedHat 8 with gcc 3.2

Hi Luis!

I'll try to answer your questions my best:

A) Actually, I haven't tried to build VTK so far.
I tried with ITK 1.8.1 (the version distributed 
in your book) and it also crashed.

B) I only updated the GCC compiler to gcc-3.2.7 
because of the software requirements of a package I
use.

C) As far as I know, I only have one GCC compiler
installed (I updated the compiler from a .rpm package 
using the -u option, in order to remove the previous
gcc version)

D-G) I didn't define these environment variables, but
actually I've just defined them and tried again 
(building everything in a different disk partition) 
and I have the same problem


E) CMake version is 2.0.3

F) As I said, I couldn't build neither version 1.8.1. 
nor 2.4.1

Hi Sergio,


Your compiler seems to have a configuration problem.


Some questions:

A) Are you able to build any big project in that
computer ?
    VTK for example ?

B) Have you, by any chance, been updating system
libraries ?
    maybe the GNU tools  ?

C) Do you have other versions of the GCC compiler
installed ?

D) Did you defined the CC and CXX environment
variables ?

E) What version of CMake are you using ?

F) Have you build any other ITK version in that
machine ?
    Can you still rebuild it ?


G) Have you checked your Hard Disk recently ?
    you may have corrupted sectors in the binary
directory...
