The Imaging Science and Information Systems (ISIS) Center at Georgetown
University in Washington DC has a position available for a postdoctoral
fellow or research engineer to work on an open-source software project.

This project is called the Image-Guided Surgery Toolkit and is a
high-level component based framework providing common functionality for
image-guided surgery applications. The project is funded by a small
business grant from NIBIB/NIH to Kitware Incorporated and Georgetown
University, along with the University of North Carolina as a
subcontractor.

The toolkit is based on the open-source standards VTK, ITK, and FLTK.
The toolkit is currently being developed and an initial public release
should be available by the end of this year. The toolkit will allow
researchers to quickly build prototype systems for image-guided surgery
for specific applications such as minimally invasive cancer treatments,
vascular interventions, and percutaneous spinal procedures.

Applicants should have a strong background in object oriented
programming and experience with open-source software including some
experience with VTK, ITK, and FLTK. A familiarity with Agile development
methods is also desirable.
