This feature has been working for quite a while AFAIK:

eg:
http://www.vtk.org/Testing/Sites/hythloth.kitware/zRel44-Linux-gcc295/20070512-0300-Nightly/Notes.html
and
http://www.vtk.org/Testing/Sites/DASH1.kitware/zRel50-Win32-vs71/20070512-0300-Nightly/Notes.html

What is your ctest version. Could you send the verbose output of ctest -V ?
