Hi Trevor,
Glad to see you are using Dart. I'm cross posting this on the Dart
mailing list.
To clarify, I'll refer to the old Tcl-based version of Dart as "Dart
1" and the new Java version as "Dart 2", even though the Java version is
at 1.0.7 currently.
Yes, the coverage reports in Dart 1 are much nicer. To be backwards
compatible with Dart 1's formats, we ended up sacrificing some features
including the nice formatting. I hope to be able to tackle this
sometime, I'll add it to the ToDo list we maintain in the documentation.
1. Only the Java Dart is currently being supported.
2. I would highly recommend using the Java version. While some brave
souls have managed to setup the infrastructure for Dart1, it's a real
pain. Many, many have had success with Java Dart.
3. Kitware continues to run Dart1, but will be switching over to Java
Dart "Real Soon Now(tm)". Or when Andy gets to it. The main factor in
Kitware's decision is high availability, as they run a multitude of
dashboards, and can't bear to have them be down. We've had some
intermittent scalability problems with Dart2 in the past, I think this
has been resolved, and we've been able to keep our dashboards up and
running for quite some time now (http://dart.na-mic.org/ is a mirror of
some of the Kitware dashboards).
Best regards,
-dan

Subject: [CMake] Dart server - which source?
To: cmake at cmake.org
Hi,
I've been running a Dart2 server for several weeks, having found
the Dart1.0.7 Java version at
http://www.na-mic.org/Wiki/index.php/Dart2Summary
<http://www.na-mic.org/Wiki/index.php/Dart2Summary> , which was fairly
easy to setup.
I've recently got my CMake code coverage running, and noticed
that the Dart2 coverage summary reports don't look the same as those on
the Kitware site which are much nicer (see
http://www.cmake.org/Testing/Sites/midworld.kitware/DarwinG5-g++/2007050
7-0100-Nightly/CoverageByName.html
<http://www.cmake.org/Testing/Sites/midworld.kitware/DarwinG5-g++/200705
07-0100-Nightly/CoverageByName.html> ).
I tried grabbing Kitware's Dart code from
http://public.kitware.com/Dart/HTML/Download.shtml
<http://public.kitware.com/Dart/HTML/Download.shtml> but it looks out
of date, the first step in the example referencing a file that doesn't
exist (Dart/Source/Server/www/cgi-bin/Dart.pl), plus the instructions
seem difficult to follow for setting up a server.
So, my questions:
1) Are both versions being actively supported?
2) Which one do people recommend using?
3) What are Kitware running, and where is the source for that
version?
