[Dart] Problems adding account

Hi,

I'm having problems signing up an account to receive Dart emails.
We're using Dart version 1.0.7.  This particular server has been upgraded all 
the way from 0.8.5.

The symptom is:
When I fill in all the details then click 'Create New Account', I get a blank 
page.  If I then try to log in as the user I just added, I get the 
error "Error authenticating user".  And if I then try to add the user again, 
I get "Cannot create user: a user with this email address already exists".

Any ideas what's going on, or what I have to do to fix this problem?  I 
checked for some of the obvious stuff like permissions being incorrect in the 
server files, but it looks OK.  We already have a lot of users registered and 
a lot of history stored for that server, so I'm not so keen on blowing it 
away and starting again.
