[CMake] actually using cmake alternative to convenience libraries

In similar cases I create CACHE variables:

    set(foobarSRCS foo.c bar.c CACHE INTERNAL "" FORCE)
    set(foobarLIBS ${externalLibFound} CACHE INTERNAL "" FORCE)

You can also write a set_cache() macro.
