It was probably a response to Thiago on the Qt mailing list. 

Use 

 add_definitions(-DQT_STATICPLUGIN)

when building your plugin or 

 set_property(TARGET theplugin APPEND 
   PROPERTY COMPILE_DEFINITIONS QT_STATICPLUGIN
 )
