I suspect a typo or directory permissions issue.

Try this. Copy FindBoost.cmake from CMAKE_ROOT/share/cmake-2.6/Modules to
/home/jvines/FindBoostHOORAY.cmake. Then add the following :

set(CMAKE_MODULE_PATH /home/jvines)
set(Boost_DEBUG ON)
find_package(BoostHOORAY)

you should see output like this:

-- [ /home/lowman/FindBoostHOORAY.cmake:323 ] Boost not in cache
-- [ /home/lowman/FindBoostHOORAY.cmake:326 ] _boost_TEST_VERSIONS =
1.38.0;1.38;1.37.0;1.37;1.36.1;1.36.0;1.36;1.35.1;1.35.0;1.35;1.34.1;1.34.0;1.34;1.33.1;1.33.0;1.33
-- [ /home/lowman/FindBoostHOORAY.cmake:328 ] Boost_USE_MULTITHREADED = TRUE
-- [ /home/lowman/FindBoostHOORAY.cmake:330 ] Boost_USE_STATIC_LIBS =
