I get the following md5sum values for these downloads, and they work for me, using the built-in zip extraction in Windows 7 and simply running the executable installer:

C:\Users\davidcole\Downloads>cmake -E md5sum cmake-2.8.5.zip
2084961a9d002a072325cd70be2f55fb cmake-2.8.5.zip

C:\Users\davidcole\Downloads>cmake -E md5sum cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe
78afce85bcc66a1fe916829f27b87e4a cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe

C:\Users\davidcole\Downloads>cmake -E md5sum cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.zip
ef536e5148aacf559735df893b40a1f4 cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.zip

Do you have a previous version of CMake installed so that you can also do the cmake -E md5sum on the files you downloaded to make sure they match? (Or some other way to measure the md5sum of the files on your machine...?)

What browser/tool did you use to download them?

Perhaps try a different tool.

I think you just had a bad download... I don't think we have corrupt files on our server. Try again. If the same result, try again with a different web browser/download tool.

sorry, I re-opened the issue because I'have no idea on how to add a note to a closed issue.
There's something strange, I use Mozilla FireFox 3.6.2 under Win XP, I just re-downloaded the 3 packages and using previous version 2.8.0, my sys output is:

D:\download>dir cmake-2.8.5*
...

15/09/2011 15.31 8.423.852 cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe
15/09/2011 15.35 10.599.023 cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.zip
15/09/2011 15.45 7.358.679 cmake-2.8.5.zip
               3 File 26.381.554 byte

D:\download>cmake --version
cmake version 2.8.0

D:\download>cmake -E md5sum cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe
ac7c3a0140d0d17aca180dcc051fc287 cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe

D:\download>cmake -E md5sum cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.zip
16ed143b768bd26f77b7c5b3045d1dfe cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.zip

D:\download>cmake -E md5sum cmake-2.8.5.zip
2084961a9d002a072325cd70be2f55fb cmake-2.8.5.zip

the MD5 is the same only for the source package
I tried also IE 8 just on the installer pkg and:

D:\>dir cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe
...
15/09/2011 15.51 8.424.116 cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe
...
D:\>cmake -E md5sum cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe
ad5d1d89fdba09b01cf4786402315d0d cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe

Different size and (of course) different MD5, then I tried Chrome and the output is:
D:\cc\Downloads>dir cmake-2.8.5*
...
15/09/2011 15.58 8.423.324 cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe
...
D:\cc\Downloads>cmake -E md5sum cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe
51092d96ad58cbd122de817141e6260b cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe

another size and MD5 (!)
last attempt, Opera:

D:\opera>dir
15/09/2011 16.02 8.424.444 cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe
...
D:\opera>cmake -E md5sum cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe
e26ac8680b1696ea7239cde9c42b86bb cmake-2.8.5-win32-x86.exe

all the integrity checks fails, I think I have some problems when downloading binary packages (and I have no explanations on why source package have the same MD5). Maybe the problem is related to ISA Server between me and the net.

just another note: I've tried also with a Linux on VM and I've got the same result of IE8, but in this case, at the end of download the browser rekonq gives a popup message saying 'Error - connection to www.cmake.org is broken'. Maybe this is a clue.
BTW, trying with another PC of a colleague using chrome I've got the same result of IE8.
After that I've retried also with Firefox and I've got the same result of IE8 so the result doesn't depends from browser but from the state of something in the chain webserver-internet(?)-ISA server-myPC.

Anyway it's the first time I download something from the net and I found it corrupted.
P.S.
which is the correct size of the package on your Windows machine ?

Hi
please close the issue, finally I've been able to download 2.8.5 with the right size (and MD5), from my home connection and using Opera (with Chrome the problem was still on).
